Soft, grounded tones photograph beautifully in West Texas light—ivory, taupe, camel, warm gray, muted olive, chocolate, charcoal, and soft blush. These shades create a timeless base and allow skin tones to glow.
But elevated doesn’t mean colorless.
Deep jewel tones—emerald, sapphire, burgundy, plum—can feel incredibly rich on camera when styled with restraint. They add presence without overpowering the frame.

If one person anchors the look with a print and everyone else builds around that palette, it creates cohesion without sameness. Florals, stripes, subtle geometrics, and organic motifs can be stunning when balanced with solids and complementary tones.
The key is purpose, not noise.
Monochrome Has Its Moment
There is something striking about a single-color story—head-to-toe cream, shades of camel, layered blacks, or tonal blues. Monochromatic styling photographs beautifully and feels quietly confident when done with variation in texture and silhouette.
About Neon
High-impact color can absolutely work when it serves the concept.
What I typically steer clients away from is neon without intention—bright for the sake of bright. When bold color supports the mood or editorial direction of the session, I’m all in.
Studio vs Outdoor Styling
In studio, we lean polished and sculptural—tailored suiting, clean lines, dramatic silhouettes, elevated basics.
Outdoors allows for softness and movement—flowing gowns, layering pieces, wind-friendly fabrics, organic textures that interact with the environment.
